This situation occurs when your baggage does not arrive at its destination on time, but appears within a maximum of 21 days. This situation may be due to baggage handling errors by the airline, labelling problems or unexpected deviations during transport. In these cases, the airline usually <strong>compensate for the delay<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Total loss of baggage. <\/strong>This is when your baggage does not arrive at its final destination definitively. This situation is usually the result of baggage handling errors by the airline, labelling problems, theft or unexpected deviations during transport. In these cases, the airline usually <strong>compensation for loss of baggage<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, there are cases of <strong>damage or destruction of luggage<\/strong> as a result of rough handling, adverse weather conditions or defective equipment. If this is your case, you may also be able to claim for a<strong> compensation for breakage, tears, dents or damage to wheels or handles.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:17px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Causes of lost luggage at the airport<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Baggage theft<\/strong>. Occasionally, baggage may be subject to theft in transit areas, during ground transportation or at the final destination.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Overload<\/strong>. If the flight is overloaded, it is likely that some bags will not be loaded with the rest of the luggage and will be transferred to other flights.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Scales<\/strong>. When you take two or more different flights, your luggage is transferred from one aircraft to another and, as a result, your bags are often left at the stopover airport while you follow your itinerary.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Incorrect labelling<\/strong>. Missing or incorrect information on the baggage tag, or the baggage tag becoming detached during transit, can cause your bag to be misplaced or lost. This is a document that contains your personal details and records the incident. <strong>It is very important that this step is taken before leaving the baggage area.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the airline counters are not open, you can complete the PIR. <strong>on the company's website <\/strong>airmail within a maximum of 7 days from arrival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:6px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Retain documentation and receipts <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>It is essential that you keep all documentation relating to your flight and baggage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The flight ticket.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Boarding pass.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The loss report.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The screenshots of the<strong> online claim <\/strong>on which the date of the claim is clearly visible.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Photos of the luggage before boarding the plane<\/strong> and, in the event of baggage damaged during the flight,<strong> photos after collection<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Any other voucher given to you at the airport.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:6px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Claim compensation for lost luggage at the airport<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The regulation <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mitma.gob.es\/areas-de-actividad\/aviacion-civil\/legislacion-del-sector-aereo\/normativa-basica-del-sector-aereo-estructura\/asistencia-a-las-victimas-de-accidentes-de-la-aviacion-civil-y-sus-familiares\/reglamento-ce-n-202797-del-consejo-de-9-de-octubre-de-1997-relativo-a-la-responsabilidad-de-las-compan%CC%83ias-aereas-respecto-al-transporte-aereo-de-los-pasajeros-y-su-equipaje#:~:text=Reglamento%20(CE)%20n%C2%BA%202027%2F,y%20no%20tiene%20car%C3%A1cter%20oficial.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">(EC) 2027\/1997 of 9 October 1997<\/a> The \"Airline liability for lost and delayed baggage and for damage to baggage during the flight\".&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Therefore,<strong> you are entitled to compensation for the loss of or damage to your baggage; <\/strong>as well as<strong> <\/strong>to claim additional damages if you can prove that the airline acted negligently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, please note that this compensation <strong>will not cover the full value of your lost belongings.<\/strong>the maximum limit of the indemnity fixing the carrier's liability is limited to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.boe.es\/boe\/dias\/2010\/12\/17\/pdfs\/BOE-A-2010-19387.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">1,131 special drawing rights (S.D.R.)<\/a> per passenger. <strong>Currently, one SDR is equivalent to approximately \u20ac1.25.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:17px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"512\" src=\"https:\/\/odiceabogados.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Perdida-de-equipaje-en-el-aeropuerto-1024x512.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2757\" srcset=\"https:\/\/odiceabogados.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Perdida-de-equipaje-en-el-aeropuerto-1024x512.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/odiceabogados.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Perdida-de-equipaje-en-el-aeropuerto-300x150.jpg 300w, https:\/\/odiceabogados.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Perdida-de-equipaje-en-el-aeropuerto-768x384.jpg 768w, https:\/\/odiceabogados.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Perdida-de-equipaje-en-el-aeropuerto-1536x768.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/odiceabogados.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Perdida-de-equipaje-en-el-aeropuerto-2048x1024.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/odiceabogados.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Perdida-de-equipaje-en-el-aeropuerto-18x9.jpg 18w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:17px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Compensation for loss, delay or damage to baggage<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to the completion of the PIR, you can file a claim with the airline for compensation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The deadlines for claiming this compensation are as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>For damage to luggage<\/strong>. The complaint must be made in writing within 7 days of delivery of the baggage.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>For late delivery of baggage<\/strong>. You will have 21 days from the day you receive the suitcase.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>For loss of luggage<\/strong>. In this case, after 21 days of delay, your bag is considered lost.
